Principal’s Corner
What an exciting school we have: In the past month cross country, guitar club and not to forget World Book Day. A great day where the school celebrated stories old and new. Congratulations to Maisie and her family who narrowly beat Kenzie and his family in the infants picture competition. The Juniors had to write a review of a favourite book. There was an excellent number of entries, Jude, Adam, Ashleigh and Sophie were highly commended, but the winning entry was from Annabel. Her favourite book was Katie by Jacqueline Wilson. Well done to all and keep on reading, as it’s the key to success.
A display of decorated crosses in the church have been much admired by all. Well done Mrs Goad and the Upper Juniors.
As you have been hearing on the News the education budget is being cut in real terms over the next few years by over 6%. This should not affect the broad curriculum that we offer, but it will possibly affect any new projects and some school trips. The good news is we are expecting between 8 and 11 new pupils in September. A few more and we can beat austerity.
Finally Mother’s Day is on Sunday 26th March at 9.30. So sorry mums for an early start, but it will allow the family to celebrate the day. All classes are involved playing the guitar, reading and reciting poems.
The Service is short so we hope as many families as possible will attend. No sick notes!!

Infants’ swimming has finished and now it is the
Juniors turn. Monday afternoons now returns to normal a big thank you to ASPIRE for the Gymnastics. On the 9th February Team St Mary’s took part in the Lucton Cross Country Championships. Groups of over 100 took part in each race so well done to all. Lily was sixth in the Year 5 girls and Ivy was 24th in the Year 3 girls. A great achievement for a small school with a great heart.
The M team, Mike & Mark, are still training the back row for the Luctonians Rugby Tagfest in March. Many thanks to Alex, Mike & Mark for their efforts.
