Science

‘Why?’ is our favourite question! We encourage our children at St Mary’s to enjoy, to be enthused and to ask the question ‘why?’ Science excites children; it stimulates and satisfies their natural curiosity though knowledge and we encourage our children to investigate the world around them. They experience investigations that allow them to assimilate knowledge, scientific methods and processes. In KS1 we utilise nature through observing seasonal changes, identifying wild plants, trees and animals, discussing them in depth, drawing and comparing. Across all science topics studied at KS2, pupils can demonstrate their curiosity in what they see and their evidence-based decision-making skills as well as using relevant vocabulary and reporting skills.
